The Head of Marketing leads the development and execution of MUJI’s European marketing and communications strategy, while ensuring alignment with the brand’s Japanese heritage, core values, and company culture.
1. Brand Strategy & Positioning Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and communication strategy aligned with MUJI's business objectives and European growth ambitions. Ensure a consistent and coherent brand image across all internal and external communication channels. Develop compelling value propositions that enhance MUJI's competitive advantage, support product adoption, and align with ESG principles.
2. Campaign & Communication Planning Create and implement innovative multi-channel marketing campaigns (digital, offline, in-store), working closely with product, sales, and creative teams. Manage internal communications to ensure employee alignment with the brand's vision and values. Oversee all external communications and PR efforts, including coordination with agencies, media partners, and event organizations.
3. Partnership & Media Management Supervise strategic partnerships, public relations, and communication guidelines supporting the overall business plan. Manage all advertising activities and media buying, ensuring efficiency and alignment with budgetary goals.
4. Customer Engagement & CRM Develop and implement a robust CRM strategy to enhance customer retention and loyalty. Enrich the customer experience across both physical and digital touchpoints, increasing brand attractiveness and conversion.
5. Performance Analysis & Reporting Define and monitor KPIs and ROI for all marketing initiatives, providing actionable insights to guide future campaigns. Deliver structured and coherent reporting to senior leadership, tracking progress against strategic objectives.
6. Budget & Resource Management Manage the marketing and communications budget, including resource allocation and cost control to optimize impact. Contribute to short- and mid-term strategic planning as defined by the Executive Committee.
Knowledge and skills Experience within a retail customer environment for Ecommerce and stores (ideally with European/ Global experience). Creative skills and the ability to think outside the box. Dynamic leader with proven track record of leading organizations through significant change and growth. Be able to operate in a coach role when needed to problem solve and develop talent. Organized, knowing how to apply a structured approach, but also flexible and adaptable to individual situation. Self-motivated and energetic, with an ability to instil this in the team around them. Experience running successful marketing campaigns. Solid knowledge of web analytics and Google AdWords. Experience with CRM software/in-house solutions. Leadership skills with the ability to set and prioritize goals. Strategic thinking.
